Time for Rangers to give up on attacker Kai Kennedy after latest loan spell

Kai Kennedy has yet again failed to live up to his promising youth career in his latest loan spell – and Rangers should be considering letting the youngster leave in the summer.

The 20-year-old is currently embarking on yet another loan spell away from Ibrox after failing to hit the ground running in previous stints at Dunfermline, Hamilton, Raith Rovers and Inverness.

The Daily Record reported in July 2020 that Kennedy was being tracked by the likes of Manchester City and Bayern Munich, but it’s clear those days are long gone for the winger, who has struggled to make an impression in his latest loan spell at Falkirk.

One goal and two assists in the 2022/23 season for a Scottish Championship side indicates that Kennedy is nowhere near the level to be considered for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s first team, let alone Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

With his contract up in the summer, it was going to take a special loan spell from the youngster for him to resurrect his Ibrox career. An improvement in form hasn’t emerged and now he is seemingly staring the exit in the face.

This is, yet again, another disappointment for Ross Wilson, with a number of the Gers’ youth products often shipped out on loan for far too long. It could well be down to the number of players Rangers have out on loan in Scotland, but it’s disappointing for a once-sought-after player’s Ibrox career to fizzle out in such a manner.

Rangers

With a lot of promising youngsters in and around Rangers’ B team at the moment, it’s crucial they don’t get lost in the lower leagues in Scotland whilst out on loan. Let’s hope this is another reminder to the Ibrox hierarchy to keep a keener eye on their youth talent.

In other Rangers news, a “crazy situation” has emerged at Ibrox that’s led to this star player being “gone” from the club.
