Rangers case litigation costs exceed the £50million mark – BBC News

Litigation costs in the wrongful prosecution of Rangers Football Club have exceeded the £50million mark, as reported by BBC News.

Compensation payments were made after several people were wrongly prosecuted over the acquisition and administration of the Gers.

It was heard by the Scottish government’s criminal justice committee that costs had increased to “just under £51million”.

“As of yesterday, the stage at which the litigation had reached has now reached the point where the costs have increased to just under £51m,” said John Logue from the Crown Office (quoted by BBC News, 2 November).

Bad times

It’s important to remember the terrible state Rangers were in just over ten years ago. The people involved with the running of the club at the time nearly took the Light Blues to the brink of extinction. Although the decision-makers at Ibrox haven’t covered themselves in much glory in recent times, it’s good to know that the future of the club is no longer at risk.

It’s frustrating to find the Gers languishing behind on the pitch, but there should be hope amongst supporters that they will, one day, properly get back to the incredible heights they have previously hit. Light Blues fans will be eager to see the back of the ongoing court case, which is a continued reminder of the scandal which engulfed the Gers and clouded Scottish football.

The Ibrox faithful will instead be concerned with ongoings on the field, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side now fully focused on their domestic commitments after their European came to an end against Ajax on Wednesday evening (1 November).

In other Rangers news, a “crazy situation” has emerged at Ibrox that’s led to this star player being “gone” from the club.
