Kenny Miller wowed by Ryan Kent after Ally McCoist screamed at Rangers star v Ajax

Kenny Miller was impressed by Ryan Kent despite Rangers losing 3-1 to Ajax in their final Champions League group stage match at Ibrox on Tuesday night.

When it was just 1-0 to the away side in Govan, Fashion Sakala had a glorious chance to level when his header was cleared off the line by ex-Bear Calvin Bassey.

It was Kent’s cross that made that header happen though and Miller was wowed by the winger’s skill, vision and technique.

And it seems that Ally McCoist was shouting for Kent to do exactly what he did while alongside Miller in the BT Sport studio at Ibrox.

Speaking on BT Sport 4 on Tuesday night (1 November, 08:55pm), Miller said: “Kent’s one-v-one, Ally’s screaming at him to get at his man because he’s not got cover.

“He stands him up and it’s a wonderful ball into the back post.

“That’s what we’ve been asking for, for the opposite winger to get in at the back post, be aggressive and – the header looks like it’s going wide – but he (Sakala) should score.”

Better

Kent has been honking this season.

He hasn’t looked interested, he’s had no end-product and he’s refusing to sign a new contract to extend his stay with the club past the end of this season.

Kent, in a nutshell, has been a liability.

However, he was a lot better against Ajax.

If anyone was going to make anything happen in the Gers’ attack, it was going to be the former Liverpool winger, who was unlucky to not have an assist to his name when that cross wasn’t converted by Sakala.

Miller’s being a bit harsh on the Zambian.

Bassey – of course it was him – did brilliantly to stop Sakala’s header from going in while the Gers forward did superbly to get up in the air and direct an effort at goal.

Kent was the biggest thorn in the side of the Ajax defence but hopefully he can keep this form up in the games in the Scottish Premiership that are coming up.

In other Rangers news, a “crazy situation” has emerged at Ibrox that’s led to this star player being “gone” from the club.
