Ally McCoist stunned by ‘absolutely unbelievable’ Alfredo Morelos incident caught by BT Sport cameras in Rangers loss

Alfredo Morelos’ second-half miss in Rangers’ defeat to Ajax on Tuesday night was “absolutely unbelievable”, according to Ally McCoist.

Morelos, 26, had either an open goal to roll the ball into or the on-rushing Alex Lowry to pass the ball to.

However, the out-of-sorts Colombian missed the target altogether with a horrific shot at goal while Ajax goalkeeper Remko Pasveer was helpless on the ground.

Speaking on BT Sport 4 on Tuesday night (1 November, 10:13pm), McCoist said: “It’s absolutely unbelievable.

“He’s got to score. He absolutely has to score.

“You know what he can do, actually? He can just put his foot on the ball and Alex Lowry’s got a tap-in.

“Anyway, that kind of sums up the campaign. He must score and he didn’t.”

Shocking

Morelos – that was ridiculous.

How on earth did he miss that opportunity?

He did so well to close the Ajax goalkeeper down and win the ball from him. But to divert a shot off target with an open goal and with Lowry on-rushing was terrible.

It just about sums up Morelos’ season.

He’s been rotten in front of goal, his attitude hasn’t been great and he doesn’t look anywhere near fit enough.

Morelos from last season would have scored that. Morelos under Pedro Caixinha would have scored that.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has overseen a massive decline in the quality of his players.

You have to question what’s going on at Auchenhowie behind closed doors and you also have to question whether Morelos has mentally checked out of Ibrox already.

In other Rangers news, a “crazy situation” has emerged at Ibrox that’s led to this star player being “gone” from the club.
