Alan Rough shares ‘horrible sight’ at Ibrox as Rangers suffer loss v Ajax

Alan Rough has suggested that it was a “horrible sight” at Ibrox on Tuesday night to see fans leaving the stadium early as Rangers lost 3-1 against Ajax.

The Gers just endured the worst-ever performance in group stages in the Champions League history as they lost all of their six games with a huge goal difference.

The Ibrox is an iconic venue where fans can produce an electrifying atmosphere. But many fans had left the stadium before the final whistle.

“Such sights you don’t want to see at the end of the game. You don’t want to see the fans leaving the ground early,” said Alan Rough on PLZ Soccer.

“Again, last night the stadium was practically empty. Rangers players were thanking the ones who stayed for hanging in there. But it is a horrible sight at the end of the game.”

Issues

Last season, the Bears were flying in the Europa League. It was only a few months’ back when they reached the finals of the Europa League.

It has to be said that they have regressed. The squad is not strong enough, especially after losing Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo. The money hasn’t been wisely spent, and the Gers find themselves in a horrible situation.

The defeats in the Champions League will hurt the fans, but there will be an acceptance that the gulf in quality is probably too big with the likes of Liverpool and Napoli.

Rangers

The problem lies elsewhere. On the domestic front, Rangers are four points behind Celtic. It has reached a situation where the Bears cannot afford to drop further points.

Every game is a must-win game for them as they look to close the gap with Celtic. The pressure on the Dutchman is immense at the moment.

In other Rangers news, a “crazy situation” has emerged at Ibrox that’s led to this star player being “gone” from the club.
