Pundit raves about Malik Tillman as Rangers tactical plans v Ajax shared

Brain Laudrup has showered heaps of praise on Rangers forward Malik Tillman who impressed against Aberdeen last week in the Scottish Premiership.

The Bears will face Ajax in the Champions League on Tuesday (1 November) at Ajax, and they will be looking to end their miserable campaign on a high note.

Laudrup suggests that the only way the Bears can get something from this game is by playing aggressively and put the opposition defence under pressure.

“If Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side are going to finish a miserable Champions League campaign on a high, they need to get on the front foot, show aggression and test the Ajax defence. They cannot stand off them again,” wrote Laudrup in The Scottish Daily Mail (page 65).

“It will be really interesting to see how Van Bronckhorst approaches this one. He doesn’t have many options defensively, which perhaps makes being on the front foot even more important.

“Malik Tillman was one of several positives from Saturday’s 4-1 win over Aberdeen and could provide an important creative link. Collectively, Rangers are going to have hit a peak in performance to finally get points on the board.”

Spot on

Rangers lost 4-0 against Ajax in their opening game in the Champions League away from home.

The Bears are out of the competition and they have got nothing to lose. They will be looking to avoid the ignominy of losing all of their games so far, having lost the previous five.

Rangers will be heading into this game with loads of confidence after winning 4-1 against Aberdeen. Giovanni van Bronckhorst was under immense pressure after the Bears suffered defeat against Napoli.

What has been really frustrating is that the Bears have struggled to impose themselves at home this season, a contrast to what they did last season in the Europa League.

Apart from the first half against Liverpool, and possibly the second half away to Napoli, the Bears have been really disappointing.

Nobody expected them to progress to the next round, but they should have given a strong fight at home. Against Ajax, they have a chance to give the home fans something to cheer about.
