Kris Commons tears into Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst ahead of Ajax clash

Sky Sports pundit Kris Commons has torn into Rangers and Giovanni van Bronckhorst saying they are one step away from falling apart altogether.

The former Celtic man believes Van Bronckhorst is treading on eggshells despite Rangers’ roaring win over Aberdeen on Saturday in the Scottish Premiership.

Commons confessed that Rangers need to string a good run of results together to save Van Bronckhorst and “annihilation” against Ajax would put him back at square one.

“One result isn’t going to solve all of the problems. Should Rangers suffer a heavy defeat to Ajax at Ibrox tomorrow night, Van Bronckhorst will be back to square one,” said Commons as quoted by the Daily Record.

“Ajax showed they are a class above when they thrashed Rangers 4-0 in Amsterdam. A similar outcome tomorrow would spell major problems for the Ibrox boss.

“The 4-1 win over Aberdeen at the weekend was definitely a good building block. But another Ajax annihilation would see the whole thing collapse like a pack of cards again.”

Rangers

Character.

Rangers and van Bronckhorst showed some real character on Saturday afternoon and it was nice to see after poor recent outings

There will still be a large portion of Gers fans who are eager to see the demise of van Bronckhorst after that result.

And Commons is correct, the Dutchman is walking a tightrope at the moment and is only a bad loss away from some serious pressure being thrown at him.

In the modern game a few wins against good opposition is all it takes to get fans back on side and Tuesday presents Rangers with the ideal opportunity for this.

The unwanted record of having the worst-ever Champions League group stage performance looms large and this should be enough reason for Gers to fight for everything on Tuesday evening.

It’s time to seize the opportunity, Rangers have the chance to catapult their campaign into brighter days and become a team to be reckoned with again.
