Rangers must ship Ryan Kent out in January, he’s finished at Ibrox

One of the biggest ongoing sagas at Rangers right now is the future of Ryan Kent at Ibrox, but it seems like the boat has sailed on him staying put.

The winger was named in the starting line-up once again against Aberdeen at the weekend, despite a string of really poor performances, and Saturday afternoon was no better from him.

Despite Rangers coming away with a 4-1 win on the day thanks to goals from Antonio Colak, John Lundstram, James Tavernier and Alfredo Morelos, Kent was nowhere to be seen in the big moments in the final third.

There were several stages in the game where he was walking out of possession, while whenever he had the opportunity to take on the defender in one on one situations he seemed to be hesitant.

With his contract set to expire in the summer, a decision has been needed to be made on whether or not he is going to stay put at the club or leave.

Many have shaped the question on his future around whether or not he wants to stick around, but that ship has surely sailed now. Rangers need to take it out of his hands and make it for him.

It’s time for Kent to go.

On his day he has got bundles of quality and incredible ability, but that day is so few and far between that isn’t worth all this hassle anymore.

For too long he’s got away with a lack of end product because of his performances against minnows in the league, and now it’s coming back to bite him when he can’t deliver against them either.

The January transfer window is approaching and it’s likely to be domestic football only going forward, barring a miracle at Ibrox in midweek against Ajax, so a sale isn’t going to hurt the team too much.

If anything it will be a boost to get the dark cloud of his future out of the way and give other players a real opportunity to stake their claim for that spot.

The team has moved on beyond the need of Kent, and Rangers are a club too big to be waiting on a player like Kent to make a decision.

Move him on and show the world that nobody is bigger than the club. If you don’t perform you don’t play, and he hasn’t performed for far too long.
