Giovanni van Bronckhorst ‘hasn’t got enough’ to last season as Rangers sack claim made by pundit
Alan Rough believes Giovanni van Bronckhorst “hasn’t got enough” in the bank to last the whole of the 2022/23 season at Rangers.
The Dutchman took the Gers to a European final and won a domestic cup in the 2021/22 season but has found life extremely tough this season.
Rough has suggested the Rangers players will be a aware that loss to Aberdeen will see their manager facing the Ibrox sack in the face.

Talking on the PLZ Football show [09:05, 27 October], he said: “Giovanni van Bronckhorst hasn’t got enough in the bank for the whole season,” said Rough.
“It’s game to game and that’s just the way it is. He desperately needs a win against Aberdeen and he needs a win against Ajax to relieve a bit of the pressure.
“Unfortunately, when you put yourself in this position it means every game has pressure on it. The players are going out on the field knowing that if they get beat their manager is in trouble.”
Win or bust
The game against Aberdeen is looking like a win or bust for the 47-year-old, but it could well be worse than that for van Bronckhorst.
If Rangers scrape a 1-0 win against the Dons, the Ibrox faithful will still be calling for his time at the club to come to an end. Fans need to see performances that can be a catalyst for consistent success over the course of the season. At the moment, the Gers are winning games due to luck or moments of individual brilliance.

It’s not sustainable and certianly won’t see the Light Blues’ mount a significant challenge for the title. The display in Naples wasn’t awful, but there’s a strong argument to suggest Napoli eased off the gas quite significantly in the second half.
Furthermore, Europe’s most in form side did make significant changes to their side with their knockout qualification already secured. This weekend’s outcome could be huge for van Bronckhorst and his future.
In other Rangers news, this ex-Premier League manager is a “stand-out” to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst as the manager at Ibrox.
