Rangers and Celtic in potential European Super League invite amid court case

Rangers and their Old Firm rivals Celtic could be invited into the newly revised European Super League, according to The Mirror.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus are the three clubs currently pushing to get the competition off the ground after their previous attempt to launch the tournament was met with huge backlash from supporters.

Six English clubs were initially included but riots south of the border saw them all withdraw along with AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan.

The Super League trio are currently locked in a legal battle with UEFA over the start-up competition and Europe’s governing body is now concerned that they might lose their case.

The Premier League is no longer worried about the potential for their clubs to leave but the Super League is determined to attract other major clubs to the party, such as Rangers and Celtic.

Absolutely not

This would be an absolute travesty of the very highest order and if anybody at Rangers thinks for a second that this is a good idea then they will have a world of abuse and pain heading their way.

You only have to glance at the incredible amount of backlash the Premier League sides got for even suggesting they might enter this tournament to see how much they do not want to be in it.

The feeling would surely be the same at Ibrox if Rangers try to leave UEFA and the Champions League for the European Super League having worked so hard to get back into the competition.

It would also threaten Rangers’ place in the Scottish football pyramid with the rest of the country’s clubs unlikely to like the fact that they have just been invited into an exclusive club while they don’t get a say.

Everything about this seems like a very bad idea and something the club has to avoid at all costs.

In other Rangers news, the end of the road could be closing in for this experienced Ibrox man after his replacement shone away at Napoli.
