Rabbi Matondo injured as pundit notices Rangers struggles with selection issue
We’re delighted to welcome Tam McManus as our exclusive Rangers columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Tam McManus noticed Rabbi Matondo pick up an injury as Rangers drew 1-1 with Livingston at Ibrox on Saturday.
Matondo, 22, was substituted into the game at half time, replacing Steven Davis.
However, after 78 minutes, the Wales international was being forced off and replaced by Fashion Sakala, a substitution dubbed as a “tactical” change by transfermarkt.

However, the sub wasn’t tactical, according to McManus, who noticed that Matondo suffered an injury before he made his way off the pitch at Ibrox.
“If he was injured – and it looked like he was injured – then that’s fine but it’s happened to me before being subbed on and off,” McManus told Ibrox News.
“It’s not nice but some things can be tactical and whatever but it looks like he’s picked up a bit of an injury. Rangers are struggling with injuries but the team they’ve got on the pitch should still be good enough to beat Livingston.”
Speaking to the media on Tuesday (25 October), Giovanni van Bronckhorst has since confirmed that Matondo’s injury is only a “small” one and that he’ll be in the squad in Italy on Wednesday to play against Napoli in the Champions League.
Matondo has played 15 times in all competitions this season for Rangers and has supplied three assists.
He’s yet to score since his July arrival from Schalke.
In other Rangers news, this Gers star was involved in a “naughty” incident that had a BT Sport pundit talking live on air.
