Official club partner react to Walter Smith statue announcement for Rangers
Rangers have announced that they have commissioned a statue for club legend Walter Smith, and fans are absolutely ecstatic at the news.
The legendary manager passed away one year ago, and the club marked the anniversary of his death with an announcement on Wednesday morning (26 October) that a statue would be built outside Ibrox in his honour.
That led to plenty of love for the announcement, with the club’s official partner Four Lads Had A Dream podcast to issue a simple two-worded response.
Writing on their official Twitter account in reply to the club’s tweet with the news, they simply wrote “Mr Rangers” with a blue heart emoji to show their love.
Smith is considered the greatest and most successful manager in the club’s history, having won 10 league titles (including seven in a row), five Scottish Cups, six Scottish League Cups and taking them to a European final in 2008.
The greatest
There is no doubt about the legacy and legend that is Smith at Ibrox and with Rangers, so a statue is the absolute least he deserves.
This is a club steeped in tradition and quality and there has never been anyone that upheld those standards like Smith did.
One year ago today it was an incredible tough day for the club, but they’ve come on leaps and bounds in that time to get to where they are today.
Obviously results are difficult to come by right now, whether that’s in Europe or in the Premiership, but tonight’s game against Napoli in the Champions League should be a time to remember the greatness of both club’s histories.
Smith will be immortalised outside Ibrox in the coming years when a statue is placed at the ground, and fans will now be able to worship the main man forevermore so generations of fans never forget what a hugely important figure he was for our club.
