Four changes as Ridvan Yilmaz starts - Rangers starting IX v Napoli

Rangers have confirmed their starting XI for the Champions League group stage clash against Napoli at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has made four changes to his side which drew 1-1 with Livingston with Ridvan Yilmaz making his first start in the Champions League group stage.

The Turkey international has replaced Borna Barisic, who’s finally been axed, with Alfredo Morelos getting the nod ahead of Antonio Colak up front. Scott Wright has returned to the starting eleven for Scott Arfield and James Sands has replaced Steven Davis.

Damage limitation

Almost every Rangers fan tonight is completely aware of what they’re heading into in Naples. The Diego Armando Maradona arena is the hardest place to go in pretty much the whole of Europe at the moment. Van Bronckhorst will be desperate to get in and out of the fixture without any fatal harm to his tenure at Ibrox.

Another damaging defeat could well be the beginning of the end for the 47-year-old, who has already seen his side capitulate at times during the Gers’ first group-stage campaign in 12 years. There is hope that Napoli could potentially take their foot off the gas, with their place in the knockout stages already confirmed, but the Light Blues shouldn’t hold out too much hope.

It promises to be a busy night for Rangers defensively and if they can keep the score down to a respectable number, it could breathe a little bit of confidence into this group of players ahead of a crucial run domestically.

In other Rangers news, this Gers star was involved in a “naughty” incident that had a BT Sport pundit talking live on air.
