Kenny Miller questions recruitment at Rangers and blasts 7 players

Kenny Miller has claimed at least seven Rangers players are underperforming currently and named one “problem position” that must be addressed.

Rangers fell to four points behind Celtic at the weekend thanks to a 1-1 draw at Ibrox with Livingston, where a stoppage time John Lundstram goal saved them a point.

But speaking on BBC Radio Scotland [23 October], Miller suggested that there is a clear problem in the attack and named seven players currently underperforming across two positions.

Rangers

“A lot’s been made of the recruitment over the last three transfer windows,” said Miller.

“I’m looking at the right side of Rangers attack – the place where they needed to add goals – they signed Tom Lawrence and he’s injured. The injuries now are stacking up and definitely affecting this team.

“But I’m looking at guys that have played this position, not even over the last season-and-a-half. Aribo, Arfield, Ramsey, Wright, Sakala, Tillman, Matondo and Lawrence.

“This has been a problem position for Rangers for a few seasons now. Longer than a few seasons.

“There has been recruitment done on it but no-one is nailing it down. When you’ve got Ryan Kent on the other side, who’s en ever-present there, he’s not firing. There’s no getting away from it. A lot’s been made of his form this season.

“As Giovanni said, there’s something missing. A spark.”

Shocking

This is a Rangers team that were flying at the start of the season, and one that has completely gone into hiding in recent months with their performances.

Ryan Kent is a shadow of the player we saw last season and there’s no doubt that his contract situation has something to do with that, while similar can be said of Alfredo Morelos.

But Miller makes a great point about the right wing position and it’s crazy that nobody has been able to pin it down as their own considering the apparent quality of the players named.

The likes of Matondo and Tillman haven’t been here too long, and Lawrence was doing really well before his serious injury, but outside of that there are little excuses for the players.

Now it’s down to the manager, whether that’s Giovanni van Bronckhorst or someone else in the future, to sort it out and quickly.

In other Rangers news, Miller has blasted the attack and called Colak’s form “absolutely unsustainable”
