Rangers receive ‘huge boost’ after Kemar Roofe development at Ibrox this week – Pundit
We’re delighted to welcome Tam McManus as our exclusive Rangers columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Kemar Roofe’s return to fitness is a “huge boost” for Rangers after he came off the bench against Dundee and Livingston this week, according to Tam McManus.
Roofe, 29, hadn’t played a single game for the Light Blues this season before he was substituted into their 1-0 Premier Sports Cup win over Livingston on Wednesday night.
He also played for nine minutes in the 1-1 draw with Livingston at Ibrox on Saturday.

With Alfredo Morelos in poor form, former striker McManus believes Roofe has a good chance of becoming Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s second-choice striker behind Antonio Colak.
“It’s a huge boost,” McManus told Ibrox News.
“He’s a player who was excellent when he first came in.
“Rangers paid a decent fee for him so I think when you look at his impact when he came on as a sub against Dundee, he looked hungry, he looked back to his best.
“There’s a possibility for him to get into the team.
“Morelos was poor and he’s another guy who’s been in and out of the team but got an opportunity against lower-league opposition.

“As a striker myself, you think to yourself there’s an opportunity to get a few goals against a Championship team. But he was poor.
“Colak’s obviously the number one striker but there’s an opportunity for Roofe to play.
“He can play anywhere across the front, out wide or through the middle.
“He’ll put pressure on Morelos and will be a good option for Rangers with his experience.”
Since joining Rangers from Anderlecht in August 2020, Roofe has played 74 times in all competitions for the Glasgow giants, scored 34 goals and supplied five assists.
He’s consistently had injury issues though and that has played havoc with him putting together a run of regular starts.
