Rangers writing on wall for Robby McCrorie after Dundee snub
Robby McCrorie would have been ready to make his mark in the Premier Sports Cup against Dundee but he instead sat on the Rangers bench.
The 24-year-old has done nothing but sit on the bench, and sometimes not even make that, all season at Ibrox and was forced to do so again as Steven Davis scored the only goal in a 1-0 win.
Allan McGregor was always likely to be rested for the cup fixture to remain ready for the Premiership encounter at home to Livingston on Saturday (22 October).
So Giovanni van Bronckhorst had the choice of Jon McLaughlin or McCrorie to play in between the sticks and he chose the former, once again leaving the academy graduate in the dust.
Having already been extremely patient with not only van Bronckhorst but Steven Gerrard before him, the 24-year-old should now be totally fed up with Rangers and pushing for an exit in January.
The very fact that Steve Clarke has given him call-ups to the Scotland squad from time to time should be enough encouragement for him to realise he would be a definite number one at most clubs in the Premiership.
That is what he needs right now and this latest selection snub has to be the final nail in his coffin in the eyes of van Bronckhorst who is proving stubborn yet again.

All of this palaver could have been solved in the summer if he just realised that none of the goalkeepers at the club were remotely good enough to be Rangers’ number one long-term.
McCrorie was the only one with a chance of being that but his constant lack of games has put pay to any of that and van Bronckhorst now has a big priority in the summer.
In other Rangers news, this teenager had a sensational midweek for the B team and is pushing to appear for the first team sooner rather than later.
