Miami-based investor Kyle Fox still wants ‘significant ownership’ in Rangers

Miami-based investor Ms Kyle Fox of KRF Capital still wants a “significant ownership” in Rangers after initially failing in a bid to buy the club.

The Gers quickly involved lawyers when it was revealed MS Fox had tried to invite associates of the club to join her in an attempt to buy Rangers.

However, it appears the saga is far from over with Ms Fox insisting she is “continuing to explore” the possibility of purchasing the club.

She said (quoted by Daily Business Group, 19 October): “I look forward to putting the lawsuit behind us and continuing to explore opportunities to bring value to the Rangers organisation, its loyal fans, investors, and other stakeholders through KRF Capital’s proposed acquisition of a significant ownership interest in the club.”

It’s understood that Ms Fox values Rangers at £108million as reported by The Herald on 11 September.

Up and down

It’s safe to say that nothing is ever easy when it comes to Rangers and this takeover saga has yet again proved to be a turbulent part of the club’s recent history. When things aren’t quite going to plan on the pitch, murmurings of a potential takeover won’t make life easier for Ross Wilson and Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Considering the issues the Gers have had to face in the past, it’s understandable to see why fans may be against a takeover of the club any time soon. Financial stability whilst remaining competitive is a must for the Gers, but having an unknown investor purchase the club is always going to come with a slight risk.

For now, the focus has to be on what is happening at the club and not on a takeover. In the long run, fans would probably be eager for some outside investment to take the Gers in front of Celtic for the foreseeable future.

However, it’s hard to see anyone with enough financial backing purchasing Rangers whilst the finances in Scotland are so small compared to the rest of Europe.

In other Rangers news, an official partner of the Gers has called on the board to sack van Bronckhorst and Ross Wilson.
