Craig Moore savages Daily Record after comments on Rangers defender Leon King
Craig Moore has hit back at the Daily Record for overegging his comments about Rangers defender Leon King amid interest from Leeds United and Manchester United.
The newspaper claimed that he was slamming the marketing campaign of King and that he’s been accusing his agent of playing dark arts behind the scenes.
Moore quickly issued a response to the Record and condemned their sub editor for having fun with the misleading headline.
He wrote on Twitter, “Talking on @GoFootballShow tonight is nothing like the story the daily record have tried to push here. Accuses and slammed are strong words which I never used at all. Sub editor having some fun with a headline.
Their words not mine.”
Setting the record straight
What Moore said was, “Nowadays we are not reading just one club we are reading 10 clubs. You then start to understand there is a little bit of marketing campaign behind the scenes. Leon King as a young player has come in and done extremely well.
“We have got to remember he is 18 years of age and is getting first-team minutes. That is the most important thing in any young player’s development, and he is getting game time in the first-team minutes.”
This is nowhere near what the Record made it out to be and they made it look like Moore was trying to villainise the people looking after the 18-year-old.
While Moore took time out from his busy schedule to set the record straight, not every ex player can do that and it leads to certain repercussions.
Fans then start forming biases and claim that a certain pundit always speaks negatively about their club when sometimes it is not the case.
We’re delighted that Moore came out to reveal the fact that he’s been misquoted and this should send a lesson to others trying to make something out of nothing in the future.
