Van Bronckhorst delivers major contract update on Rangers trio

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has admitted that Ross Wilson is “negotiating” with Rangers trio over new deals but it is up to the players and the club.

The players in question are Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and Ryan Jack, all three of them are in the final years of their contracts.

While Jack has been regular in the Dutchman’s first team, the same can’t be said about the other two, although both of them remain an important part of the squad.

“It’s up to the players and the club. Ross Wilson is busy talking and negotiating at the moment and that’s the status,” said Van Bronckhorst, as relayed by Sky Sports Scotland.

Act fast

While it’s good to hear that the club is actively looking to secure new contracts for the trio, they have to act fast.

It will be a disaster for the Bears if they drag on the negotiation till the summer, and then fail to reach an agreement.

They found themselves in a similar situation with Conor Goldson last summer. He probably didn’t get enough tempting offers, and later decided that it would be good for him to continue his career at Ibrox.

The same can’t be said about Kent and Morelos. The duo have got admirers in the Premier League, and many clubs would jump in at the opportunity to sign him for free.

Rangers

Secondly, it would be a financial blow as well to lose both talented players for nothing. Even if they sell in January, at least Rangers can recoup the money they invested in them, if not more.

Jack is more likely to continue at Ibrox, and chances are high that the club will be able to strike a deal with him at some point.

In other Rangers news, an official partner of the Gers has called on the board to sack van Bronckhorst and Ross Wilson.
