Ridvan Yilmaz ‘destined’ to leave Rangers on loan in January
Rangers left-back Ridvan Yilmaz is “destined” to leave Ibrox in the next transfer window, as per Keith Jackson.
Writing his column for The Daily Record (17 October), Jackson shares that Yilmaz is another example of how poor the transfer strategy has been this summer.
Signed for £5m, he has proved to be a “lightweight of a left back”, who is likely to return to Turkey on loan.

“And then there’s the £5m fee laid out for a lightweight of a left back who seems destined to be sent back to Turkey on loan the moment the next transfer window opens for business,” wrote Jackson.
Poor transfer strategy
The 21-year-old defender joined in the summer transfer window from Besiktas, but he has barely featured.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst has used Borna Barisic mainly in the left-back role, and questions need to be asked about why Yilmaz was signed in the first place.
This was a massive summer transfer window from the Gers, where they lost two important players in Jor Aribo and Calvin Bassey. They got massive money out of their sales, and the club needed to invest properly.
And yet, Rangers find themselves in a situation, where Van Bronckhorst is left with a fragile defence, while the attacking areas haven’t been bolstered properly.

Malik Tillman has shown that he has be a lethal weapon, showcasing his quality, but he is very inconsistent (possibly due to his age). The void left by Aribo hasn’t been filled properly.
Against Motherwell, Rangers started with young Leon King. While the youngster is progressing rapidly, here Van Bronckhorst was left with no other option but to use him.
That shows how badly the transfer window has been utilised by the club. That needs to be changed in January.
In other Rangers news, an official partner of the Gers has called on the board to sack van Bronckhorst and Ross Wilson.
