John Lundstram sole Rangers representative in Kris Boyd’s team of the week
Kris Boyd has named John Lundstram as the sole Rangers representative in his SPFL team of the week after their win over Motherwell.
The Gers bounced back from a midweek thumping against Liverpool that saw them lose 7-1 in the Champions League and eliminated with four defeats in four games, with a 2-1 win at Fir Park.
But despite claiming all points thanks to goals from Malik Tillman and Lundstram himself, it’s only the former Sheffield United man who earned a spot in Rangers legend Boyd’s team of the week for The Sun [17 October].
Lundstram is one of the first names on the team sheet for Giovanni van Bronckhorst right now, even with their poor form as he continues to stand out in the centre of midfield.

Lundstram’s Ibrox career started pretty poorly, but over the last 12 to 18 months he has become an essential part of the first-team squad under Van Bronckhorst and is now a leader on the pitch and in the changing room.
His performances have been a driving force for good for this Rangers team, but his selection in this team of the week is a little strange.

Despite the win, the performance on the day was pretty poor and arguably there was nobody on the pitch who deserved to be singled out as a stand-out performer from the Rangers side.
His passing and engine are seen as some of the strongest attributes of his game, and when he’s at his best everything that is good about Rangers’ style of play goes through him.
But like everyone else, his performances need to improve going forward if we’re to challenge for the title and wrestle our trophy back.
