Rangers have Michael Beale at top of their managerial shortlist

Rangers could look to bring former assistant manager Michael Beale back to Ibrox if Giovanni van Bronckhorst is sacked, according to Alan Nixon.

The 42-year-old left the Light Blues last year when he followed Steven Gerrard to Aston Villa in the Premier League but he wanted to try his hand at being a manager himself and left Villa Park in the summer.

He took the reins at Queens Park Rangers in the English Championship and guided them to a fantastic start to the season where they currently sit fifth in the table.

“If the Ibrox club make a change then they would prefer someone they know and with a working knowledge of the club and the current squad. Beale ticks all the boxes,” Nixon said via his Patreon (16 October).

“Sources close to Beale say he is settled in London and happy with his lot at QPR and he may stay for the time being.”

Patience

Rangers have to be very careful not to rush the decision to sack van Bronckhorst and then hire Beale who has only had 12 league matches as a first-team manager in his entire career.

things might be going swimmingly for Beale and QPR right now but it could all turn sour very quickly if things start to go against him.

Rangers

It is far too soon to be suggesting that he is the perfect man to take the reins of the Bears when he is yet to experience any struggles as a manager.

Gerrard was perhaps an exception to the rule as he had an uncompetitive Celtic to beat and nothing else but that isn’t the case anymore.

van Bronckhorst still has plenty to learn himself and he is doing so on one of British football’s biggest stages which must be very difficult for him and a lot of the criticism he has been getting is often reactionary rather than thought out.

In other Rangers news, Hugh Keevins has not hesitated to give his verdict on the Dutchman’s future after a difficult week in Europe.
