Jeff Stelling questions if Giovanni van Bronckhorst can survive Rangers sack at Sky Sports

Jeff Stelling has questioned whether or not Giovanni van Bronckhorst can survive without losing his job at Rangers live on Sky Sports.

The Sky Sports host believes that a defeat at Motherwell or a crushing loss at Napoli in the Champions League would raise severe questions at Ibrox.

Kris Boyd responded and admitted that you are only ever one of two defeats away from disaster at the Old Firm clubs in the Scottish Premiership.

Speaking live on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday (15 October, 12:15 pm) Stelling kickstarted the conversation over the future of the manager at Ibrox.

“Could Gio van Bronckhorst survive another defeat?” he said. “If they lose at Motherwell tomorrow or get battered by Napoli.”

Boyd didn’t pull any strings with parts of his response: “You’re only one or two defeats away from an absolute disaster in Glasgow.”

Thin Ice.

You have to say that Van Bronckhorst will know that his job is hanging on by a thread right now.

The Dutchman has consistently come out with the excuses that his side cannot compete in the Champions League due to the finances, yet agreed he was happy with his squad in the transfer window.

Which one is it? The board alongside the manager have come in for real slack at this moment, with certain games getting embarrassing, and that is never the Rangers’ way.

Defeat at Motherwell would certainly spell the end for Van Bronckhorst and his backroom staff, but looking at our transfer business and the decisions made, the board need to face serious questions.

We can’t keep accepting the bare minimum, with the players admitting that the domestic competitions are our priority over the Champions League.

If that is the case, then why are we second in the Scottish Premiership? It is not good enough.
