Tam McManus tears into Rangers skipper James Tavernier after loss v Liverpool
Rangers were absolutely destroyed by Liverpool at Ibrox as they suffered a 7-1 defeat in the Champions League.
Tam McManus took to Twitter to share his reaction and he wasn’t pleased with James Tavernier. In fact, the entire defence was in shambles.
At the break, when it was 1-1, everyone thought that it could end up in a nail-biting finish, but Liverpool just tore them apart in the next 45 minutes.
McManus wrote on Twitter: “Horrific defensively from Tavernier & Rangers after starting really brightly. Poor.”
Spot on
We’re at a loss for words after such a dreadful performance.
The Bears made a strong start and got the goal through Scott Arfield. It was expected that Liverpool would come back strongly and put in a fight, and they eventually equalised before the break.
The game was still evenly poised, and this is where Giovanni van Bronckhorst made a big mistake.
He took a lot of time to make his changes. Antonio Colak lacked support throughout the game, and the Dutchman either needed to replace him or bring in another player who can stay close to him.

Ryan Kent was ineffective throughout the game, and basically, they allowed the Reds to dominate.
The defending has been shambolic. The likes of Tavernier and Barisic should be thinking about how on earth did they allow the Reds forwards so much space and time inside the box.
They had no answer to stop Roberto Firmino, and they were absolutely clueless about dealing with Mohamed Salah who scored yet another hat trick.
This defeat is morally damaging.
In other Rangers news, there’s been yet another high-profile exit from behind the scenes at Ibrox.
