Rangers v Livingston clash at Ibrox set to have VAR in SPFL for first time ever
The Rangers v Livingston clash is set to have Video Assistant Referees (VAR) for the first time ever in the SPFL at Ibrox.
According to the Scottish Sun on 12 October, the games on October 21 and 22 are set to deploy the new technology in the league as they aim to catch up to the rest of Europe’s big competitions.
VAR has been in operation in Europe at Ibrox but this is the first time that a league game at the ground will have it.

About time
We’re surprised that it’s taken so long for VAR to be implemented in the SPFL and it’s a good thing that the first round of fixtures will have it.
While there might be a stigma attached to it, because of the bad rep it’s received from the Premier League, having technology is very important.
So many decisions have been wrongly given and they have changed the outcome of games when they should’ve had no bearing on the results.
Hopefully, with the correct implementation, VAR doesn’t cause more problems than it solves in Scotland and we can finally have managers hiding behind poor refereeing calls to mask their team’s frailties.
The referees also need to step up as this is a completely new thing and they’ve got to adapt to the times.
After the games next weekend, it will continue to be in place until all games before football takes a break for the World Cup and we cannot wait to see how good or bad it makes the league.
In other Rangers news, Ross Wilson may have played a blinder for Rangers after a shocking development in October that will leave many Gers fans surprised.
