Rangers media partners Heart and Hand take swipe at Celtic after Leipzig loss

Rangers media partners Heart and Hand have taken a cheeky swipe at Celtic after their Champions League loss against RB Leipzig on Tuesday (11 October).

The Hoops were beaten 2-0 at home to the Bundesliga side thanks to goals from Timo Werner and Emil Forsberg to leave them bottom of Group F of the Champions League.

Heart and Hand couldn’t resist taking a dig at the Light Blues’ fierce Old Firm rivals after claims from sections of their fanbase last season that Leipzig weren’t that good after Rangers knocked them out of the Europa League in the semi-finals.

“Mind Leipzig were pish?” Heart and Hand said via their Twitter account which sparked plenty of response from angered Celtic fans in the comments section.

Rangers have the chance to get themselves off the mark in their tough Champions League group on Wednesday (12 October) when Liverpool arrive at Ibrox having won the reverse fixture 2-0 at Anfield.

Double standards

As is always the case in football nowadays, someone on Twitter will have found an excuse when their team loses and Celtic are perhaps the worst for it.

It is sometimes best to just admit that you were the lesser side on the day and Rangers have had to do that in every game in the Champions League so far this season.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will have to find a way to stop that being a reason for defeat soon though if he has any desire of keeping the Bears in European competition when games resume in the new year.

Napoli and Ajax have both shown the ability to upset the applecart with the Italian side having won all three matches so far including a six-goal rout of the Dutch champions.

At this stage, even a goal is an improvement for Rangers having lost 4-0, 3-0 and 2-0 so far in the group stage but if that trend continues, then Jurgen Klopp’s side will be heading back to Merseyside with a 1-0 win in their pockets.

In other Rangers news, one reliable journalist thinks there could be some “really good proposals” on the way for this Ibrox ace in either January or the following summer.
