Keith Jackson predicts result of Rangers Champions League showdown with Liverpool
Keith Jackson believes Rangers could get their first point of the Champions League group stages against a weakened Liverpool on Wednesday night.
The Gers have lost all three of their group games so far this season, failing to score a single goal in defeats to Ajax, Napoli and Liverpool.
But with Joel Matip, Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold missing through injury and Liverpool facing Manchester City at the weekend, Jackson told the Daily Record [12 October] that he feels Rangers could earn a draw because the crowd will be desperate for a result.

“Last week’s no-contest at Anfield doesn’t bode well for Rangers,” he said.
“But Liverpool’s early season crisis deepened at Arsenal the weekend and, with Man City to come on Sunday, Jurgen Klopp will rest legs at Ibrox.
“With a capacity crowd and a desperate need for a result Rangers might be able to win their first Group A point. Rangers 1-1 Liverpool.”
Attack
Rangers really let themselves down at Anfield last season by conceding the pitch to Liverpool and essentially letting them do whatever they wanted by setting up so negatively.
This week at Ibrox has to be entirely different, with goals needed and the fans desperate to see a good performance against elite competition to prove they belong at this level.

Van Bronckhorst has no excuses not to make a real go of it, because the defensive approach failed miserably and Liverpool are considerably weaker this time around due to injuries and their busy schedule.
Rangers won’t be expected to do anything special for the game, because on paper it’s a no-contest, but football isn’t played on paper.
With the incredible Ibrox crowd behind them and a chip on their shoulders to prove they deserve to be here, expect a huge performance from the boys in blue and potentially all three points if they play to their ability.
