Van Bronckhorst makes bold tactical admission ahead of Rangers v Liverpool

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has suggested that he expects a “very hectic” game against Liverpool on Wednesday (12 October) as Rangers look to secure their first win in the Champions League.

The Gers suffered a 2-0 defeat against the Reds in their last Champions League game. They desperately need a better performance in the reverse fixture at Ibrox.

The Bears are yet to pick up a point from their opening three games, but they should be confident of putting up a strong fight on their home turf.

“We have to find more moments in the game to be dangerous, our approach will be different tomorrow as we need points,” said the Dutchman, as relayed by the club official Twitter handle.

“We need to attack but we also need to defend really well against a good side. I expect a very hectic game. The Ibrox crowd will definitely push us on towards another good performance.

“We want to start the game well and put pressure on our opponents from the first whistle.

We have a team tomorrow that is capable, we have to be really focused in the transition moments. We have to be ready to defend and be clinical in our dangerous moments.”

Usually, in big games like these, managers do not tend to reveal how they want to play.

In this case, Van Bronckhorst was very frank and clear.

After three games played, Rangers have zero points on the table. They need to pick up something from this game to stay alive in the competition.

It won’t be easy to grab a victory away in Naples, but the games against Ajax and Liverpool at home are very crucial for their European hopes.

There were a lot of discussions among the pundits about how the game should be approached. While a defensive set up wouldn’t be a bad idea, it seems the Dutchman thinks otherwise.

He understands that beating Liverpool won’t be easy, but at the same time, the best possible way to get points at home is to put the opposition under pressure.

The Dutchman also stressed the importance to defend well, but most importantly, they need to take their chances.

In other Rangers news, Ross Wilson may have played a blinder for Rangers after a shocking development in October that will leave many Gers fans surprised.
