Alan Rough: Rangers have enough to cause Liverpool trouble in Champions League clash
Alan Rough believes Rangers will draw 1-1 with Liverpool in their Champions League clash on Wednesday evening at Ibrox.
The Gers head into the fixture without a point on the board in the Champions League knowing that their hopes of playing European football after Christmas hanging by a thread.
However, Rough suggests that Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side have enough to make life difficult for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Talking on the PLZ Football Show [38:00, 11 October], Rough said: “This could be the right time to have a go at them but they have to be aware that Liverpool do have quality players and that they can hurt you at any moment.
“He’s got to go and pick the players that will go into the last third of the park and can cause trouble because he’s certainly got them.
“I am going 1-1 [48:47].”
Tough task
No matter what state Liverpool find themselves in, going up against Klopp’s side is always going to be a tough task. The Reds haven’t been at it domestically in the 2022/23 season but they still possess quality all over the pitch that would hurt any side in Europe, not just the Gers.
Realistically, the Light Blues need something out of the fixture, even if it’s just a point to keep their hopes of snatching third place alive. Catching Ajax is still a possibility and the Gers will be hoping that Napoli continue their fine form against the Eredivisie side on Wednesday [12 October].

Rough is right in his assessment of now being a good time to play Liverpool. The Premier League defeat to Arsenal will be a tough one to take for a lot of Liverpool’s players. It could well be a big ask for them to mentally recover and prepare for what promises to be an electric Ibrox.
In other Rangers news, Ross Wilson may have played a blinder for Rangers after a shocking development in October that will leave many Gers fans surprised.
