Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst addresses his conundrum ahead of Liverpool clash

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has addressed his striker conundrum ahead of Wednesday evening’s UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool at Ibrox.

Van Bronckhorst will have to make the decision as to whether to start Antonio Colak or Alfredo Morelos or both against Jurgen Klopp’s fearsome side.

The Dutchman admitted he will “think about it” and will choose a team that will get Rangers the most positive result on the night.

“Will Colak or Morelos play?,” said Van Bronckhorst as quoted by Football Scotland.

“We have three days to prepare for Liverpool and I always look at what the game needs and what we need from the game.

“I will think about it in the coming days and we will look to pick a team to get a positive result.”

Start both.

There’s little to lose now in the UEFA Champions League and in what promises to be an electric evening at Ibrox, Rangers should start both forwards and go hell for leather.

If so, Morelos will likely drop into a deeper role, allowing Colak some freedom to attack the box, and given Rangers’ slow starts in the competition this season, some firepower will be needed.

Liverpool are short of confidence at the moment, so it’s the perfect opportunity for Van Bronckhorst to try out some new tactics and partnerships within the squad.

It’s time to give Colak a run in the UEFA Champions League as well, at some point you’ve got to accommodate your players in form and Colak is exactly this right now.

Morelos has stunk in the competition so far this season, so maybe having the weight of goals lifted off his shoulders by the Croatian may be the perfect remedy for him to up his game.

In other Rangers news, the club now had a record-breaking striker on trial at Ibrox and he’s gone on to make headlines in the United Kingdom.
