Dietmar Hamann backs Rangers to give Liverpool a ‘tough game’ at Ibrox

Dietmar Hamann has blasted Liverpool for being “one dimensional” and backed Rangers to give them a tough game at Ibrox on Wednesday.

The Reds easily beat Rangers at Anfield last week 2-0, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mo Salah getting on the scoresheet, but they’ve won just two of their eight Premier League games so far this season.

After losing to Arsenal on Sunday, former midfielder Hamann claimed they were “pedestrian” and while he said they were “far superior” to Rangers, he backed the Ibrox club to give them a run for their money in Wednesday’s fixture.

“Liverpool look tired, pedestrian and flat. I don’t know where the spark will come from,” he said, as quoted by The Sun [10 October].

“They are far superior to Rangers but they will have a tough game on Wednesday. I wouldn’t write them off but they need a spark.

The new signings need time to settle and since Mo Salah has signed his new deal he has gone missing.

“They look one-dimensional right now.”

Nothing to lose

Rangers are being given next to no chance of winning this game on Wednesday, despite the fact they’re in a must-win position and in better form than Liverpool.

Right now it’s obviously clear that Liverpool have the better players and are a better side, but with the Ibrox crowd roaring the Gers on there is no limit to what they can achieve.

This is a team playing well domestically and if they really give it a go, Liverpool are there to be hurt and Rangers could cause a huge upset for many.

The fans will be at it from the word go and the players should have a chip on their shoulders to prove that they deserve to be playing at this highest level in Europe.

There is nothing to lose for Rangers going into this game, because nobody expects them to do anything anyway, so they may as well go for it.
