Kenny Dalglish: Rangers star Allan McGregor needs to have incredible game v Liverpool
Sir Kenny Dalglish has showered heaps of praise on Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor.
The Gers will face Liverpool in their next Champions League game at Ibrox, and Dalglish has suggested on The Sunday Post (9 October, page 20) that McGregor needs to have an “incredible” game on the night.
While Jurgen Klopp’s side will start as favourites, the Gers are well capable of beating any side on their home turf.

“What the final score is isn’t important. For Jurgen, it’s all about getting the points in the bag,” wrote Dalglish.
“But you cannot rule Rangers out completely, that’s for sure.
“It will take a performance even more extraordinary to repeat it at Anfield. The starting point for that would have to be Allan McGregor having an incredible game.
“He’s produced breathtaking displays over the years, and he’d need to do it again.”
Big game
It is a huge game for Rangers, and they should be looking to get something from this fixture, though it won’t be easy.
The Bears lost 2-0 at Anfield, but they are capable of providing a strong fight at home.
The Champions League campaign hasn’t gone well for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side but they can still make it interesting if they get some points on the table.
Dalglish is spot on here. Liverpool have got some of the world’s best attacking players and they will test Rangers’ defence. McGregor has to be on top of his game.

At the start of the season, Van Bronckhorst started with Jon McLaughlin in goal, but he soon realised that McGregor is still the best option he has at his disposal.
He needs to make top saves in the game and make the contest alive.
Another key decision for the Dutchman will be whether to start with Alfredo Morelos or bring back Antonio Colak who impressed once again this week by scoring a brace against St Mirren on Saturday.
In other Rangers news, the club now had a record-breaking striker on trial at Ibrox and he’s gone on to make headlines in the United Kingdom.
