Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst gives update on injured youngster Alex Lowry

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has provided an exciting update on injured youngster Alex Lowry, admitting he’ll be back sooner rather than later.

The ball-playing midfielder was on the wrong end of a ridiculous tackle whilst playing in a B team match against Dumbarton in August.

Van Bronckhorst claimed the midfielder was back in training with the first-team squad and will very much be part of his plans when he is “ready” to go.

“Alex is a very creative player, a player who can create chances and who can score as well,” said Van Bronckhorst as quoted by the Herald.

“Alex joined two sessions this week so he is back in full training with the squad. I think he needs a couple more training sessions to get stronger physically but he is a player that we have back.

“We know his qualities in all the games we are going to play in the next month. He will be involved when he is ready.”

Lesson learned.

This one is a lesson learned for Rangers moving forward, Lowry should never have been part of that B team match, which he was subsequently stretchered off in.

The teenager obviously still faces a battle to get some minutes in the first team with the acquisitions of Malik Tillman and Tom Lawrence but this is better for his progression than B-team football.

Lowry can be a useful cog moving forward in this campaign’s title push against Celtic and should be utilised by Van Bronckhorst when needed.

It seems from the above quotes that the Rangers boss thinks highly of the Scottish youngster and this bodes well for the playing time he’ll receive when he’s fully back.

The midfielder signed a contract extension at Ibrox until 2025 last season after some impressive outings for the first team, further cementing his name in the team’s future plans.

It’s great to see the maestro back and nearly match ready, the horror tackle he was of the end of in summer wasn’t a pleasant watch.

In other Rangers news, the club now had a record-breaking striker on trial at Ibrox and he’s gone on to make headlines in the United Kingdom.
