Rangers change has to come v St Mirren to get best out of senior duo
Rangers have the chance to right the wrongs on their Champions League defeat away at Liverpool when St Mirren arrive in Glasgow.
The Buddies have enjoyed a fantastic start to the 2022-23 season which included beating Celtic in Paisley on 18 September in their first game of the post-Elizabethan era.
Games involving Stephen Robinson’s side have not produced goal fests yet with only 10 scored and nine conceded but Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men can rapidly increase the tally of the latter on 8 October.
The Dutchman spoke in his pre-match press conference on 7 October about the flexibility of his wingers and predominantly Ryan Kent who has been almost exclusively a left-winger during his time at Ibrox.
“We have wingers who can play both sides – Ryan [Kent] is more naturally on the left but he can be flexible when needed,” he said, as quoted by Rangers’ official Twitter account.
The Englishman would usually prefer to play from the left where he can cut in and have the chance to shoot on his favoured right foot but he isn’t the only one that suits the role.
Rabbi Matondo looked impressive in the Light Blues’ last Premiership encounter away at Hearts as he dazzled the Jam Tarts’ full-backs, looking especially sharp from the left flank.

He assisted Antonio Colak’s second goal, after Kent assisted the first, and could have been even more influential on another day.
van Bronckhorst has been almost too set in his ways at times since he arrived at Rangers but he proved away at Anfield that he is willing to change things up when required as he played a back five to try and contain the Scouse powerhouse.
Kent can be equally effective on the right-hand side and that would also allow Matondo the chance to prove himself in his natural position; they can also swap mid-game anyway if they want to.
In other Rangers news, full-back Borna Barisic has been giving out very sound advice to one Gers ace after a breakthrough season so far.
