John Lundstram reveals request from friends and family in lead up to Liverpool v Rangers
John Lundstram has revealed his friends and family back in Merseyside have been begging for tickets to see Rangers v Liverpool on Tuesday night.
Lundstram grew up in Liverpool and played for Everton’s academy during his youth years despite his allegiances towards the Reds.
With the Rangers midfielder set to feature against his boyhood side on Tuesday, he’s revealed to Sky Sports that he’s been bombarded with ticket requests for the Anfield showdown.

“They’ll be in our end of course, they’re not getting a ticket if they’re not supporting us,” said Lundstram.
“I’ve had loads of messages and people trying to get tickets but I only get a certain amount and anyone who would be supporting Liverpool wouldn’t be getting a ticket for our end.
“To be fair, all my family members want us to win.
“Maybe some of my pals might still want Liverpool to win, but my family are all supporting me and Rangers.”
Historic showdown
Lundstram labelled the match a “special occasion” in the interview due to his Merseyside roots, but Tuesday’s showdown is a huge game for plenty of other reasons.
Firstly, it’s the first time in history that Rangers will face Liverpool in a European competition. There’s plenty up for grabs too – Liverpool currently sit second in Group A behind Napoli, while Rangers are still awaiting their first points in the Champions League this season.

It’s a huge British showdown with pride at stake as well as points. Rangers can gain confidence from their last two wins over Dundee United and Hearts, with Lundstram playing a full 90 minutes across both games.
With Liverpool bound to bring their high-energy style, Lundstram and midfield partner Ryan Jack will be crucial to Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s game plan. The pair will have to cover plenty of ground and put in a handful of challenges.
And if Lundstram didn’t already have reason enough to impress, he’ll have plenty of friends and family in the stands cheering him on.
