Kris Boyd reacts to Scott Arfield’s disallowed goal in Rangers win v Hearts

Kris Boyd said on Sky Sports that he cannot wait for VAR to be introduced in Scottish football after another controversial decision as Rangers won 4-0 against Hearts at Tynecastle.

In the first half, when the Gers were already leading by 2-0, thanks to a brace from Colak, Scott Arfield had a goal disallowed.

Boyd was furious with the decision, and he is baffled by the referee who awarded it a free kick instead.

Arfield volleyed in a cross from Borna Barisic into the net after Craig Gordon tipped the ball on, but the referee interpreted that the goalkeeper was impeded.

“I don’t see any push on Craig Gordon. He comes, makes a mistake and runs into Matondo. It’s a goal. I can’t wait for VAR!,” said Boyd on Sky Sports (as relayed by the Sky Sports website; 13:33 pm).

Comfortable win

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be very pleased with the result and the performance.

The Dutchman started with Antonio Colak for this game, and his decision was vindicated as the Croatian international scored twice to increase his goal tally to 10 this season.

Alfredo Morelos came on as a substitute for him in the second half, and the Colombian got a goal to his name as well. It was his 10th goal against Hearts, and he has proved to be a nemesis for them.

Ryan Kent also opened his scoring account as the Gers did really well to increase their goal difference ratio.

Coming to the decision to rule out Arfield’s goal, it was a poor call from the referee. The goal should have stood, and that’s why it is important to have technology in the game.

Arfield has been superb this season for the Bears, but he will feel very unlucky with the decision.
