Rangers without Tom Lawrence for Hearts clash, Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirms
Tom Lawrence will not be available for Rangers on Saturday when they travel to Hearts on Saturday, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has confirmed.
The 28-year-old has been the source of a lot of the attacking moves put together by the Light Blues this season since his free transfer from Derby County in the summer.
But injury has ruled him out of the visit to Tynecastle, as shared by Rangers Review journalist Derek Clark, while van Bronckhorst will have one player back in contention to play.
Ben Davies has rarely been seen by Rangers fans since he too joined the club in the summer but the boss confirmed that he was available to play on Saturday, as per Heart and Hand.
The club’s official media partners also shared the rest of the injury news which included John Souttar, expected back after the World Cup, and Kemar Roofe who is back in training.
Tillman time
Lawrence’s absence will no doubt be felt by the Light Blues but in American youngster Malik Tillman, they have a very good substitute to put their faith in.
He has already scored some very important goals during his loan spell in Glasgow while being asked to play on the wing, away from his natural position of attacking midfield.
Most of those games have been because Lawrence has looked very good in that same position but with the Welsh international now effectively out of the running, for this game at least, van Bronckhorst has the perfect chance to test Tillman out.
The Dutchman also needs to try and find a way to get the best out of his wingers, namely Ryan Kent and Rabbi Matondo, who have both looked very sub-par so far with the latter not even in the squad against Dundee United.
The free-flowing, attacking football has not yet come to fruition this season but the talent is there to make it happen, it’s just a matter of time.
In other Rangers news, Hearts boss Robbie Neilson has outlined his expectations for his players on Saturday and he might have gone crazy.
