Rangers starlet Kane Ritchie-Hosler completes loan move to Dunfermline

Kane Ritchie-Hosler has sealed his temporary exit from Rangers as he heads to Dunfermline in League One on loan until January.

The 20-year-old’s move was confirmed by Rangers B team and Youth on Twitter on Friday (30 September) and he will immediately be in the Pars’ squad for Saturday’s home game against Peterhead.

James McPake’s side are heavy favourites for the game as they currently top the Scottish third tier by one point over Airdrieonians having conceded just two goals in seven games.

Ritchie-Holser is naturally a right-back and has already made five appearances in the Lowland League for the Light Blues’ B Team this season, scoring once.

He now has the chance to shine in a much higher division at East End Park and it could be enough to earn him a new deal at Ibrox with his current contract ending in the summer.

It takes a very brave soul to choose to leave Rangers in any capacity but especially on loan when there is always the chance that another youngster could jump ahead of you in the queue.

But the teenagers around Auchenhowie right now should be looking at Ritchie-Hosler’s move and trying to find a similar one for themselves to further their career in the professional game.

Sticking in Glasgow and playing Lowland League games is not going to impress Giovanni van Bronckhorst much at all but heading to either the Championship or League One and being the star of the show would.

The right-back role is very difficult to grab at the moment with James Tavernier very firmly having both hands grasped on that position and showing no sign of slowing down.

Someone like Alex Lowry could do with some time away from Auchenhowie to get some regular game time, once he’s fit, and others need to follow suit.

In other Rangers news, no contract negotiations have taken place so far to keep this Scottish international at Ibrox beyond the end of the season.
