Rangers official partner reacts to Sky Sports Tv deal
Heart and Hand have reacted sarcastically on Twitter after Scottish football’s new £150m TV deal is set to be rubber-stamped this week.
According to a report from The Daily Mail (26 September), the SPFL have secured the green light from clubs to sign a new £150million broadcasting deal.
The Ibrox club had refused to give their backing as the fate of the contract extension was hung in the balance. But now, the deal will go through.
Via Twitter, they wrote sarcastically: “Sky, who don’t even show all if the 48 games on the current contract, are miraculously going to show 80 in this new deal. Aye, right.”
Frozen out
The deal finally got the green light thanks to Livingston, which has given the SPFL the 11-1 vote they need to go ahead.
Ibrox managing director Stewart Robertson accused that the rights are undervalued. He even suggested that the Swedish clubs receive twice the revenue from Tv than those in Scotland.
According to a report from The Daily Record, Sky want to increase its coverage of the Scottish top flight by showing more live matches from 48 games to 60 games from season 2024/25.

The broadcasting platform are also willing to increase its annual payment from £24m to £30m by season 2028/29.
The Gers have every right to be vocal about the matter as they don’t support the decision at all.
Both Rangers and Celtic are in the Champions League this season, and Scottish football is being noticed globally after the Bears reached the finals of the Europa League last season.
In modern football, where tv revenue plays a big role in the club’s income, the Bears have every right to be furious about it, considering other leagues elsewhere (not the top five) are offering better packages.
In other Rangers news, a January move for this summer nearly-man could be the answer to the problem Giovanni van Bronckhorst is facing.
