New SPFL TV deal with Sky Sports approved, despite Rangers not replying yet
The new SPFL TV deal with Sky Sports is set to go ahead despite the objections of Rangers after a new resolution was found, according to the Daily Mail.
Sky had been looking to secure a new updated deal which would allow them to show more games per year, but Rangers felt the deal undervalued the league and wanted an apology from the league for an ongoing dispute with Cinch.
But with the deal being held up by Rangers’ objections, the league have found a new resolution to be able to move forward with it despite those objections and it’s now expected to be signed in the coming days.

“Top-flight teams were due to meet on Tuesday in a bid to resolve any differences around a deal projected to net clubs a collective £30million a season over five years until 2029 and allow Sky to show 60 games per campaign,” they said in their report.
“Requiring an 11-1 vote from the Premiership to pass, SPFL chairman Murdoch MacLennan has now emailed clubs to tell them that a resolution designed to bypass Rangers’ objections has secured the votes required.
“A Sky deal hailed as ‘the largest single commercial contract in the history of Scottish league football’ will be signed in the coming days.”
Horror
It’s a horror deal and the fact that the league have moved ahead with it despite the biggest club in the division having objections and concerns shows just how desperate they were to get it done.
Rangers’ concerns were justified and legitimate, but the league didn’t want to listen and now Rangers must suffer with the decisions of others once again.

Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack spouted a heap of nonsense on Sunday night in a statement released by the club, which was ultimately picked apart to prove how incorrect and out of touch he is.
But the league don’t care about Rangers and once again have overlooked us as being difficult rather than standing up for what’s right.
It’s a poor deal and a poor decision, and relations between the club and the league are unlikely to be improving any time soon on the back of this decision to bypass us as a club.
