Rangers chairman under fire from Aberdeen chief over Sky TV deal
Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack has taken aim at Rangers’ Stewart Robertson over the Ibrox club’s stance of the Sky Sports TV deal.
The Uk’s leading sports broadcaster recently announced an increase of their coverage of the Scottish Premiership which will require each side to show at least five home games live on television.
Sky’s latest deal is set to be worth £38million to the clubs of the Premiership but Robertson is still not pleased with this and Cormack has had enough.

“The SPFL’s current, proposed, and potential broadcasting deals of up to £38 million per season shows a significantly higher value per game the SPFL is getting against comparable countries,” he said, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“More than double that of Holland, Belgium, Sweden, and Denmark; and in the case of Norway almost four times more.
“This begs the question; would SPFL Premiership clubs be willing to provide every home game live in order to get the total value of any broadcasting deal much, much higher?
“The simple answer is no, most clubs don’t have the appetite to provide anything like 19 home league games live on television.
“Why? Because it would cannibalise season ticket sales, gate income, hospitality, and retail sales, never mind dramatically impacting on the atmosphere at our games.”
Tough
Aberdeen can say and do whatever they like within the rules and regulations of the SPFL so they are perfectly entitled to make this statement but they have forgotten one thing.

So can Rangers.
just because a deal seems good for one club, doesn’t mean that it is right for another thanks to the wonderful nature that every club is unique to everyone else.
Rangers have much different desires and beliefs from that of the Dons and their chairman and if they want to take a stand then they are fully obliged to do so.
They proved last season that they would not get bullied around by the SPFL as they remained steadfast in their stance regarding the Cinch sponsorship of the league and were eventually vindicated.
They will do so again if they feel the need to and if form is anything to go by, Rangers will get their way in the end.
In other Rangers news, Giovanni van Bronckhorst could do with making a few sales in January and it should all start with this one player.
