Ridvan Yilmaz must be given Rangers chance after Borna Barisic Napoli horror show
Giovanni van Bronckhorst has to give Ridvan Yilmaz a Rangers first-team chance after Borna Barisic’s horror show against Napoli.
The 29-year-old left-back was poor in the Gers’ 3-0 defeat to the Serie A side, particularly in the first half where he gave the ball away on numerous occasions.
The Daily Mail ranked (15 September) Barisic as Rangers’ second worse performer behind James Sands and it is now time for Yilmaz to be given the chance to impress at Ibrox.
The 21-year-old has only made three appearances this season after his summer move to Ibrox and van Bronckhorst is seriously missing a trick by not starting him more often.
In Rangers’ 3-1 League Cup win over Queen of the South, Yilmaz was a constant threat from full-back and produced some wonderful moments of skill at times.
At 21, he is the future for the club in the left-back position and he needs to be entrusted more often by the Dutchman. Warming the bench is going to do nothing for the 21-year-old at a stage in his career where he needs to be playing football and developing.

Barisic has been a good servant to the club for a number of years, but he cannot be given another chance after his performance against Napoli. By giving Yilmaz the nod it provides healthy competition which will be positive for van Bronckhorst in the long run.
After the Light Blues’ last three outings, no one will blame the Dutchman for ringing the changes and it’s something he must do after his side’s recent form.
In other Rangers news, Barry Ferguson is raging at this “spectacular failure” at Ibrox.
