Neil McCann drools over Rangers striker Antonio Colak

Neil McCann has showered heaps of praise on Rangers striker Antonio Colak as he scored twice in the 2-1 win against Dundee United on Saturday (17 September) at Ibrox.

The Bears returned to winning ways after suffering three defeats in a row. They looked pedestrian towards the end and looked flat, but still managed to pick up all three points.

Alfredo Morelos was dropped to the bench, and Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s decision to start with Colak was vindicated as he netted twice.

“Colak doesn’t mess around. He’s always inside the width of the goals. It’s so simple,” said McCann, as relayed by BBC Sport (17 September).

Much needed

Colak took a bit of time to settle down, but he has done really well in the past few matches.

His attitude, fitness, and work-rate have been fantastic, and he has now become the first-choice striker at Ibrox, even though Alfredo Morelos probably has got more cutting edge to his game.

Morelos started the game against Napoli in midweek, but Van Bronckhorst has dropped him to the bench. The Dutchman feels that Morelos is getting back to full sharpness, but he is not there yet.

That is indeed a big issue, and Rangers need to sort it out.

The first goal was an easy one. James Tavernier was the main architect behind the move, and he put the ball in a position from where Colak couldn’t miss.

The second goal was well taken, and credit should go to Borna Barisic for producing a sublime delivery. The striker, who turned 29 today, celebrated with the fans as the Bears closed the gap at the top.

In other Rangers news, the club now had a record-breaking striker on trial at Ibrox and he’s gone on to make headlines in the United Kingdom.
