Rangers move for Fabian Delph would surely mean end of the road for Glen Kamara
Rangers are reportedly interested in a move for free agent Fabian Delph – and if he did make the move north of the border, Glen Kamara’s future would be in even more doubt.
Football League World report (16 September) that the Gers, along with a host of Championship clubs are looking at the 32-year-old midfielder.
Sky Sports revealed (1 September) that Stade de Reims failed with a last-minute move for Kamara, whose future was up in the air for most of the summer.
The Finland international’s form has been very hit and miss at the start of the 2022/23 season and if Delph did make the move to Ibrox, Kamara would likely fall further down the pecking order at Ibrox.
It seems strange that Kamara has seen his career at Ibrox stall slightly, with the 26-year-old at an age where he can still be of use to Rangers for a number of years.
Delph is 32, and despite being very experienced, he is probably past his best years after a long time in the Premier League with a host of clubs.
The former England international is a leader and has shown grit and fight during his career, which is something that is potentially missing from the Gers midfield at the moment.
John Lunstram, Steven Davis, Ryan Jack and Kamara are all good ball-playing midfielders but whether any of them are able to provide bite and aggression in the middle of the park is up for debate.
It would certainly be interesting to see Delph at Ibrox but it’s probably not the most realistic move for the former Everton man.
