Napoli attacker Hirivng Lozano out of Champions League clash v Rangers
Influential Napoli attacker Hirving Lozano will miss their Champions League clash against Rangers on Wednesday evening at Ibrox.
The Mexican international was not named in the Serie A side’s squad for their trip to Glasgow after not taking part in training.
It’s understood the 27-year-old is unavailable due to having the flu as the rest of the Napoli squad jet into Glasgow looking to build on their excellent matchday one victory over Liverpool.
Napoli have named top scorer Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and influential midfielder Piotr Zielinski in their squad for the match at Ibrox.
Tough test regardless
Napoli’s 4-1 victory over Liverpool was one of the biggest shocks of matchday one but also demonstrated that this side are one of the best that Italy has to offer at the moment.
They currently sit top of Serie A after four wins and two draws from their opening six matches domestically and will be looking to capitalise on Rangers’ poor form of late.
Lozano will be a big miss having featured in all of their fixtures so far in the 2022/23 season but after a good summer of transfer business from Napoli, this will be a huge test for the Gers.

Before the Champions League got underway, Giovanni van Bronckhorst would’ve been targeting the home fixtures against Ajax and Napoli and key matches for Rangers to get results from.
However, after the first round of fixtures, it looks like the fixtures against a very out-of-form Liverpool may be their best chance of qualifying from the group, or at the very least snatching a Europa League spot.
With no away fans in attendance on Wednesday (14 September) the Light Blues must do all they can to get at least a precious point at Ibrox.
