Napoli fans already en route to Glasgow for Rangers Champions League tie
Napoli fans are already heading to Glasgow for their side’s Champions League clash with Rangers, according to Tancredi Palmeri.
The Serie A table-toppers have been told that no away fans will be permitted at Ibrox due to a lack of policing and security owing to the mourning of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
But some Italians have already begun venturing out to Scotland for the clash, which has now been moved to Wednesday, and may try to attend the game regardless.
“Potential dangerous situation in Rangers-Napoli,” Palmeri said via his personal Twitter account. “Away fans section will be closed due to shortage of police resources occupied in the Queen’s mourning events.
“But many Napoli correspondents reporting that Napoli fans (also within UK) are already travelling to Glasgow.”
As a result of the policing issue and no away fans being permitted at Ibrox, Napoli have responded in turn to deny any Rangers supporters making the voyage to Naples for the return fixture later in the group page.
Deal with it
To change the date of the game with so few days to go and with most people’s travel arrangements already sorted is a travesty and Rangers will just have to deal with the mess that they are due to be meeting head on when the game comes around on Wednesday.

It is totally unreasonable to ask the Italian fans to completely abandon their plans to attend the game when it hasn’t been postponed or cancelled and will go ahead with home fans in attendance.
There will have been plenty of Glaswegians looking forward to a trip to Naples later in the group stage who will also have to be disappointed now but it shouldn’t be too late to find the necessary policing and get some fans in the away end.
That would also allow some Light Blues supporters to head to Italy but it looks highly likely that Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side will be without the famous Gers support on the road.
In other Rangers news, the World Cup is just over two months away but it could be an agonising wait for two Bears to find out if they will be on the plane to Qatar.
