Dave King: Rangers boardroom lack of communication is a worry
Former Rangers chairman Dave King feels that the lack of communication from the Ibrox board is a worry and has asked for more transparency.
The Light Blues have endured a torrid week on the pitch which has resulted in back-to-back 4-0 defeats to Celtic and Ajax.
Questions over the club’s summer business and Giovanni van Bronckhorst have begun to emerge and King has taken it upon himself to send a strong statement to the hierarchy at Ibrox.

As quoted by The Daily Record [8 September], it read: “I have been closely following the club’s activities on and off the pitch and as a supporter (and still largest shareholder) I have become increasingly alarmed about what I am witnessing.
“Being a director of Rangers is a privilege that comes with an individual and collective responsibility that appears to have been absent from decision-making for some time now.
“There is a shroud of secrecy around what is happening within the club and the lack of meaningful engagement with supporters and shareholders, who are entitled to a greater degree of respect, is completely unacceptable.”
He added: “Disconcertingly, the efforts to avoid scrutiny from supporters and the mainstream media seem to be a deliberate attempt to avoid taking responsibility.
“This is why I am forced to speak out at this time by sending an open letter to the board and by asking for future transparency, honesty and respect for all supporters and shareholders.”
Strong words
A strong statement such as this had to be made by someone who can have a significant impact on the decision-makers at Ibrox.
Ultimately, the club’s summer business has left a lot to be desired, particularly after the departures of Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo for big sums of money.
The Ibrox faithful would’ve been hoping for the club to use the 2021/22 Europa League final run as a springboard to really take them to level with Celtic domestically and in the long run, become the dominant force in Scotland once again.
Furthermore, Champions League qualification will also see a large amount of money come into the club. Fans are beginning to question where it has all gone.

Rangers aren’t used to losing, especially two big defeats in their biggest games of the season so far. The longer the board stay quiet the worse the situation will become.
Ideally, Rangers fans will want to know what the long-term plan for the club is with the additional funds that are now available.
Furthermore, questions will also have to be asked over Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s long-term future, particularly after his comments after the Gers’ defeat in Amsterdam.
