Tam McManus fumes at ‘lazy’ Ryan Kent for what he did during Rangers defeat vs Ajax
Tam McManus has blasted Ryan Kent for being “lazy” during Ajax’s 4-0 win over Rangers in the Champions League tonight.
The Gers were thumped and found themselves 3-0 down at half-time again thanks to goals from Edson Alvarez, Steven Berghuis and Mohammed Kudus.
The light blues thought they’d pulled one back in the second half through Borna Barisic’s wonderful curling effort, but it was ruled out due to Kent being offside in the build up and McManus blasted him on Twitter for it.
“Look along the line Kent,” he said. “Just lazy. Miles off.”
Kent was seen walking back into position on the halfway line when Lundstram played a stunning pass and it ended up costing his team a crucial goal in the game.
Shocking
The whole performance tonight was absolutely woeful from Rangers, but that sequence of events really summed things up for the team.
Kent is supposed to be one of the leaders of this squad when it comes to performance, with his pace and quality a leading light especially in big games.

But his lack of effort and carelessness in that scenario was absolutely shocking and has ultimately cost the team. He should be getting back into position quickly and going at his man to cause problems for the opposition, not walking back because they’re 3-0 down.
The whole team needed to do much more and much better for the game, but Kent in particular is someone that a lot of the players will look to as an example and that’s simply not acceptable at this level.
Goal difference could prove to be hugely important given the group is so tough and that was just another example of this team not doing enough when they’re facing adversity.
