Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst perfect for Dutch FA Role – Journalist
Giovanni van Bronckhorst may be under pressure at Rangers but one Dutch journalist thinks he would suit a role with the nation’s FA.
The former Light Blues player and Holland international has come under fire after his side lost the Old Firm derby 4-0 at the weekend but Arno Vermeulen still sees potential in him.
The Dutch journalist has suggested that he could be a good fit to fill the Director of Football role with the national team along with some other recognisable names.

“I don’t think Dick Advocaat is the type for this, I don’t see Marco van Basten in that role either,” he said, as quoted by the Daily Record. “Ron Jans? He is too light in the eyes of the KNVB, I think. Guus Hiddink? Too old. Fred Rutten? Certainly not.
“I’m thinking more about René Meulensteen. For many years, Sir Alex Ferguson’s right-hand man at Manchester United and now assistant national coach at Australia.
“Giovanni van Bronckhorst would also be very suitable. Above average intelligent, has experience at home and abroad and has a lot of work himself.”
Back off
A secure job with his nation’s FA will be an incredibly tempting prospect for van Bronckhorst if they were to make an approach but Rangers should be doing everything to deny them that opportunity.

He may have been outclassed by Ange Postecoglu in the Old Firm derby but there is a lot of potential in him as a manager and the club have to be patient as much as they can.
It is too easy to forget that only a few months ago he masterminded a run all the way to the Europa League final where only a shambolic Aaron Ramsey penalty denied them a glorious trophy lift.
They did get revenge in the Scottish Cup later that week so he does have silverware to his name in less than one season at the helm.
In a way, he is still learning the club and players again having only taken charge in November when Steven Gerrard left for Aston Villa.
In other Rangers news, this summer recruit has been highlighted as the one to watch at Ibrox when the Champions League kicks off.
