Rangers away day statistic revealed by journalist is huge worry
Rangers suffered another away defeat at Celtic Park on Saturday and it is becoming a worrying trend for the Light Blues manager.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst has had to rely on sensational home form to keep his Gers side in the title hunt last season and again at the start of this season and his troubles on the road have not just been for Ibrox.
Even during his tenure at Feyenoord, his side struggled away from the comforts of home and perhaps it is time for the Dutchman to make a subtle change to his tactics when on the road.
Journalist Mark McDougall unearthed the worrying statistic that will make Rangers fans shuddered about his team’s form away from home throughout his managerial career.
“In 68 away league games as Feyenoord manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst dropped points in 35 of them,” he said via his personal Twitter account. “In 13 away league games in 2022, he’s dropped points in seven of them. A major worry for Rangers.”
That kind of record when managing two teams who are among the very best in their respective countries is totally unacceptable and something that he must address if he wants to be a successful manager at the top level.
Maybe a more reserved approach to begin with is worth a try rather than a gung-ho style that tries to blow the opposition away from the very start.

He doesn’t seem to realise that to take three points you only need to win the game by one goal and he has become almost obsessed with destroying teams by four or five.
That always leaves you vulnerable to opposition counter-attacks and Rangers don’t seem to have the ability to stop them as often as they should be.
In other Rangers news, there was one glaring issue that came from the 4-0 humiliation at Celtic that should have been addressed in the transfer window.
